Great Grandma’s Gingerbread Boys

1/3 cup shortening

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 1/2 cup dark molasses

2/3 cup cold water

6 cup flour (may need mre when cutting cookies)

2 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. allspice

i tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. ginger

1 tsp. cloves

1 tsp salt

Mix together shortening, brown sugar and molasses. Stir in cold water. Sift remaining ingredients and add. Chill for at least 3 hours. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into ginger boy shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350° for 15 minutes. May bake longer if crisper cookies are desired. Decorate as desired.
