Just do It!

The new year is nearly upon us, and here at Total Class Creative we want your mother-daughter time to be memorable. After all, she is growing up quickly and soon the moments you will have together will be competing with school friends, video games, boys and all the other distractions kids find these days. So make it a point this year to spend some time creating both memories and mementos that the two of you together will not soon forget…

Why Are Crafts Important in a Child’s Life?

The Hobby Industry Association contracted Rockman Et Al, an independent educational research and consulting company, to study the impact of hands-on craft projects and how it linked to educational endeavors among Kindergarten to Grade Six. Among other findings, the surveys found that “students who spent a greater proportion of their classroom learning time engaged in hands-on projects scored significantly higher on writing and drawing knowledge application tasks.” This survey also stated that in classes that spent almost half of instructional time on these hands-on projects (48%), students scored an average of 83 out of a possible 100 on the knowledge application task. Comparatively, students whose classes devoted a low percentage of class time to craft projects (11.8%) scored a mere average of 75 on the same test. An astonishing 85 percent of the teachers surveyed also agreed that long-term hands-on projects during this growing phase in a child’s life “gives students a greater depth of understanding that more conventional instructional methods.”

In other words, kids involved in hands-on crafts were better suited to excel in educational learning than those students who were not exposed as much to hands-on craft projects.

Just do It!

Us mothers here at Total Class Creative strongly believe that in order to give our kids the best opportunity in learning, there has to be products outside the schools for kids to use. So while you are out seeking the perfect video game, most fashionable dress or other potential gifts for your young children throughout this year, why not give them the gifts that will bless their lives in education as well as build a bond between you and your children as you grow together as a family, creating memories.
